The WNBL finals are set for the ‘19/’20 season and for some who are mostly AFLW fans, all they’ll have heard about this year’s finals is that multi-sport star Monique Conti has bowed out of the Boomers’ campaign to focus on footy. Of course this is welcome news for Tigers fans but we feel for our Boomers fans out there who might be feeling a little more nervous now heading into finals. In light of all that, let’s break down the details of the series, set to play out through February.
After 16 rounds and 21 games each (yeah, that’s a little weird but we’ll run with it), the top four of the eight team competition qualify for finals, which begin as two separate series’. Those finishing first and fourth face off in series one, and those finishing second and third compete in series two.
Each series is a best of three set up, with the winner of two games in each series progressing to the Grand Final series.
Phew, that’s a lot of series’, but plenty of opportunities to watch some stellar hoops action!

The higher placed team in each (including the Grand Final series) earns the right to host game one, and game three if necessary.
Now, with that information, the finals series one and two fixture makes a whole lot more sense. Southside Flyers will take on Adelaide Lightning in series one, and defending champions the UC Capitals face Melbourne Boomers in series two.
