Photo Essay: women in golf

Photographer Sue McKay presents a photo essay focussing on the experiences of women in golf and how golf provides a space for women of all ages.

Photographer Sue McKay of Kick it to Me Photography wanted to show how older women enjoy golf and the many ways golf can bring women together on the green, focussing on the West Lakes Golf Club in South Australia. These images celebrate how golf can offer relaxed competition, social connection and a space for women of all ages.

“I recently moved house and am now living on the edge of the stunning West Lakes Golf Course” Sue said.

“I can see and hear the women enjoying themselves as they walk along the second fairway and drive towards the tee, so I approached the Club to find out more about what is offered in the way of older women playing golf.

With these images I endeavoured to capture the relaxed competition, social connection and how the club is a space for women of all ages and ability to get some exercise and socialise.”

The production of this photo essay is supported by our Siren Sport X ABC Sport partnership.
