ROUND 11
NSW Swifts v Melbourne Vixens
- The top two sides of the league both had games in Round 10 that they will want to bounce back from. The Swifts were stunned by the Firebirds while the Vixens came from behind but could only manage a draw.
- When these sides met in Round 8, the Vixens defeated the Swifts by 3 and Mwai Kumwenda (Vixens) and Sam Wallace (Swifts) both scored 46/50.
- This is a crucial match for both teams in working towards holding the all-important top of the ladder position at the end of the home-and-away season.
Sunshine Coast Lightning v West Coast Fever
- The Fever continue to build coming into the end of the season, they currently sit two wins behind the third place Lightning and only one clear of the Thunderbirds, so they will be doing all they can to protect their top 4 position.
- A Suncorp Super Shot on the siren from Steph Wood got the Lightning over the line last round. Wood has been a play maker for the Lightning and when she is firing, the Lightning are striking.
- Fever’s Jhaniele Fowler continues to stamp her authority on her opponents so Lightning’s Phumza Maweni and Karla Pretorius will have their work cut out for them.
GIANTS Netball v Collingwood Magpies
- The GIANTS will be looking for another victory over the Magpies, as they did in Round 6, to keep any chance of finals alive.
- The Magpies remain on the bottom of the ladder with just one win for the season.
- There is bound to be a battle of speed and physicality in the centre position between the GIANTS’ Jamie-Lee Price and the Magpies’ Molly Jovic.
Adelaide Thunderbirds v Queensland Firebirds
- The Thunderbirds yesterday started their run of home games with a comfortable win against the Magpies, and the Firebirds caused a huge upset with their win over the reigning premiers, so both teams will be full of confidence heading into this match.
- Both teams remain outside the top 4 and need to keep winning to keep their finals hopes alive.
- Firebirds’ goal attack, Tippah Dwan had the best game of her career in Round 10 and achieved a record breaking 142.5 Nissan Net Points. The Thunderbirds will need to keep an eye on Gretel Bueta’s replacement.
