ROUND 9
GIANTS Netball v Melbourne Vixens

  • The Vixens have cemented their position at top of the ladder after an important win against the reigning premiers.
  • The GIANTS are sitting just outside the top four and will need a strong run home in these final six matches in order to qualify for finals.
  • Vixens co-captain Liz Watson currently leads the league in goal assists (204) and feeds into circle (337).

Collingwood Magpies v NSW Swifts

  • When these teams met in Round 6, it was a tight and hard-fought match, but the Swifts were victorious by two.
  • The Magpies remain on the bottom of the ladder as the only team with just one win for the season. Will Madi Browne make a return from injury to boost their midcourt?
  • A loss to the Vixens last round won’t have the Swifts down, they still own second place on the ladder and they’ll be hungrier than ever to get back on the winner’s board.

Adelaide Thunderbirds v Sunshine Coast Lightning

  • The Lightning were stunned in Round 8, suffering their biggest ever loss. They will be on the hunt for answers this round to maintain third spot on the ladder.
  • The Thunderbirds also had a heartbreaking loss in Round 8, going down by just one in the dying minutes, so they will be ready to redeem themselves and fight their way back into the top four.
  • The Thunderbirds have never beaten the Lightning.

Queensland Firebirds v West Coast Fever

  • The Fever were a united and unstoppable force in Round 8, to remain in the top four they need to fire against the lower placed but re-surging Firebirds.
  • The Firebirds will be full of self-belief after a heart stopping 1-point win last round but will need to focus on doing all the right things in the final quarter as that has proven to be a downfall for them.
  • Last time they played in Round 6, Romelda Aiken had 94 Nissan Net Points very closely followed by Courtney Bruce with 93.5, this will be the match up to watch.
