ROUND 13
Collingwood Magpies v Sunshine Coast Lightning

  • Unfortunately for the Magpies, 2020 hasn’t been their year with just one win to their name. They will remain on the bottom of the ladder going into Round 13.
  • Last time they played, it was only separated by 4-points so if the Magpies can capitalise on the slow starting Lightning early and hold them off, could they get the second win of the year?
  • The Lightning will hope goal shooter Cara Koenen backs up her 41 from 41 performance, alongside Steph Wood who was dominate on the Suncorp Super Shot last round.

West Coast Fever v GIANTS Netball

  • The Fever are on fire at the business end of the season and have now moved into third place on the ladder after they defeated the reigning premiers last round.
  • Another must win game for the GIANTS if they want to have any chance of sneaking into the top four for finals.
  • Fever’s Jhaniele Fowler broke her own single game scoring record last round after scoring 70-points, so the GIANTS will need to do some serious defending all the way down the court if they want to stop her from getting to the post.

Adelaide Thunderbirds v NSW Swifts

  • After dropping down to fourth on the ladder, the Swifts will be raring to show that they still serious about going back-to-back in 2020.
  • A finals campaign is out of the question for the Thunderbirds in 2020 after suffering a loss last round but they hope to have load-managed co-captain Chelsea Pitman back to bolster their squad going into the Swifts clash.
  • Helen Housby also proves to be a game changer for the Swifts, if she can get back on court will that get them over the line against the Thunderbirds?

Melbourne Vixens v Queensland Firebirds

  • The Vixens claimed the minor premiership with their win in Round 13 and now all eyes will be on them to see if they can go one step further and claim the 2020 premiership.
  • The Firebirds have continued to build this season but haven’t been able to seal the deal in a couple of tight contests which means they’re out of the finals race but will still be focusing on closing out the season with a couple of strong wins.
  • Last time they played, the Vixens ran away with a huge 28-goal win.
