Yes, you read that right, we are announcing THREE successful applicants today for the next round of the Siren Emerging Sports Writer Program thanks to the support of Football Victoria!

After working to select someone for the program from some very strong applications, Football Victoria generously offered to increase their commitment to support three standout women.

Congratulations to Sienna Nobile, Lauren McIntosh and Seraphina Newton

Thanks to Football Victoria, Siren can now craft tailored programs for these three women to help them gain experience, build their portfolio of published work, and now, they have the added bonus of working through the program together for additional support while building their networks.

Siren co-founder Dr Kasey Symons was thrilled by the news of Football Victoria’s additional support.

“This is incredibly exciting as supporting women wanting to work in sports media is a big driver of Siren’s mission. We love being able to offer our experience, knowledge and support to do what we can to help to change the landscape of sports media and we know that a big part of that for women is forming relationships and building networks.

“That this round of the Siren Emerging Sports Writer Program has that element of networking and developing relationships built into it now by Football Victoria going above and beyond in their support by bringing three women into the program is fantastic.”

Football Victoria CEO, Kimon Taliadoros is enthusiastic about providing pathways for women in media, through football.

“It’s widely known that Football Victoria is dedicated to achieving gender equity across participation by 2027 – but importantly, we need to also drive change off the pitch.

“Providing opportunities that encourage women and girls to forge a career in sport is absolutely vital. We congratulate the candidates and are looking forward to working with Siren, to harness their full potential.”

We welcome Sienna, Lauren and Seraphina to the Siren family as the program formally begins for them on May 24 and we cannot wait to share their work with our Siren readers.

In the meantime, get to know Sienna, Lauren and Seraphina and learn why being part of this program means so much to them as they work towards fulfilling their sports media dreams.
