Finalists announced for Sport Australia Media Awards

Siren Sport is beyond thrilled to have been named as a finalist in the 2020 Sport Australia Media Awards!

Sport Australia has today announced the finalists for the annual Sport Australia Media Awards.

The Sport Australia Media Awards have been running since 2002 and recognise excellence in
Australian sports journalism, broadcasting, production and photography.

There was strong contention for places among the finalists again this year with more than 330 entries
received, including 78 entries for the highly-competitive Best sport profile – written category.
Given the unique challenges of 2020, Sport Australia also introduced a new award Innovation in
sports media which acknowledges the important role media plays in engaging new participants and
audiences in sport.

It is this award that we, Siren Sport, are a finalist for! We are beyond thrilled to receive this kind of recognition in our first year and we thank everyone from our contributors, financial supporters and readers for being on the journey with us in 2020.

We are also so honoured to be included in some amazing company with so many women in sport that we admire who have also been recognised for the outstanding contribution they make to sports media.

Congratulations especially to our dear friends at The Outer Sanctum for being a finalist in the ‘Best depiction of inclusive sport’ category and to the ABC’s Amanda Shalala for multiple nominations for all she does for women in sport coverage.

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Sport Australia Media Awards will be held online with winners announced
in February 2021.
